Another thing stupid ex-wives are famous for is preventing phone contact between the non-custodial father and the kids. If he calls on the house phone, he will try stupid ex-wife's cell phone. If that doesn't work, he will eventually splurge on a cell phone for the child(ren). Of course stupid ex-wife knows EXACTLY what to do with that...take it..."charge" it...use it...everything EXCEPT leave it in the hands of said child(ren) so that Daddy can call!
Why is this stupid? Well, first off, there is now record from Daddy's phone AND the child's phone of every call that went unanswered while the child was with Mom. If a non-custodial father goes to the point of purchasing a cell phone, give it up! You don't have a "deadbeat Dad" or "loser" on your hands like you would like your friends/family to believe. You have a dad who wants to remain in contact with his kids, which he has every right to do!
Secondly, if your child is old enough to talk on the phone, s/he is old enough to witness what you are doing. And YOU are the bad guy here. You will never win that one, and s/he will ALWAYS see you as the bad guy for keeping Daddy away. And no matter what your child says to your face, they may hate your guts for doing these things and one day they will make sure you pay!
Omg!! My husband's ex gf is AWFUL for either not answering the phone, not returning calls or answering and saying SD is "sleeping" or "busy" and tells my hubs she'll have SD call him and never does! SD doesn't even know we called when she gets to our house!
ReplyDeleteThe flip side of this is if we miss phone calls from the ex (and she'll sometimes call 2 hrs after SD has left her home... I mean seriously? Give the girl a chance to spend some time with her father!) the ex will freak out and call repeatedly and leave more and more urgent messages on the machine and threaten to call the police cause she suspects we may have taken off with SD. (Ya, cause we'd really wait until AFTER 8 years of dealing with your lunacy and AFTER we have more access and rights than we've ever had to take off! If we were gonna run off we would've done it a looooong time ago! Unlike Miss A we respect SD and know she needs both parents in her life, no matter how batty her mom is.) The ex will even call around to our friends and family to hunt us down, threatening them as well. I mean she expect us to not have a life and expects that we should sit by the phone and wait for her call. One point our phone wasn't working and we didn't realize and when we finally noticed (cause our Internet wasn't working as well) we listened remotely to our messages and she had left like 6 in the span of a couple hours. We immediately got SD to call her and they didn't even answer! So SD left a msg and I changed our answering machine to say "Sorry for the inconvenience but our phone is not working. Please leave a msg and we'll get back to you as soon as we can" The ex called and had the audacity to leave a msg saying "Please! It sounds like you're making it up! I'm actually just recording this! And you sound a little mad on your message!" Of course I sound mad! My phone isn't working cause my modem went kaput! Seriously, some moms need to get a clue!
